Transit agencies frequently receive requests from the general public and the private sector for planning data that are often spatial and temporal in nature. While each Florida transit agency keeps and maintains their own Geographic Information System (GIS) and General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) files, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Transit Office has developed a one-stop shop to provide more efficient access to these files and planning-related spatial data of the Florida fixed-route transit agencies.
The FTDE provides transit agencies an online repository for their GIS and GTFS files that can be freely downloaded by the general public. It also provides transit agency contact information and other metadata regarding specific agency data. Although FDOT sponsors the data portal, transit agencies are responsible for the accuracy and timeliness update of the data files.
